Den høje Sheriff of Powys ( High Sheriff of Powys i engelsk og Uchel Siryf Powys i walisisk ) er den retslige repræsentant for den britiske monarki i grevskabet Powys .

Funktionen afholdes for første gang af Francis Amcotts Wilson, udnævnt til 26. marts 1974for året 1974-1975. Peter Ronald James er High Sheriff i Powys for året 2021-2022 efter hans udnævnelse den10. marts 2021.

Historie

I henhold til den kommunale styrelseslov 1888 , shrievalties defineres af de administrative amter er oprettet fra1 st april 1889i England og Wales . I Wales ændres disse dog i1 st april 1974i henhold til § 219 i Local Government Act 1972 .

Således blev der oprettet et nyt skrin, der dækker amtet Powys, fra Montgomeryshire og Radnorshire såvel som delvist Brecon . Mens funktionerne til Sheriffs of Montgomeryshire  (in) , Radnorshire  (in) og Brecon  (in) afskaffes31. marts 1974, den fra High Sheriff of the Powys er indstiftet kl1 st april 1974.

Den lokale regering (Wales) Act 1994 ophæver amterne skabt i Wales ved 1972 loven i31. marts 1996. Disse bevarer dog en begrænset ceremoniel rolle som bevarede amter , især i sammenhæng med helligdomme . Således forbliver det bevarede amt Powys operationelt inden for nye territoriale grænser, som er de samme som beskrevet i loven i 1972 med tilføjelse af samfundene Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant, Liansilin og Liangedwyn fra Clwyd .
