Claviceps er en slægt af svampe fra familien Clavicipitaceae . Det parasiterer æggestokkene hos græsser , sedges eller juncaceae .
Beskrivelse
De perithecia er dannet inden tætte kugleformede stromas , båret i slutningen af lange pedicels som spirer på sklerotier . De Ascosporerne er filiform. De konidier er enten phyalospores ovale eller afrundede primære enten holoblastospores større side, ovale eller pæreformet. Den Myceliet erstatter de ovarie, stik i det vaskulære system af anlægget på niveau med den rachillet, men det gør ikke invadere nogen anden væv . Arter af slægten Claviceps kan grupperes i henhold til arten af deres oligosaccharider . Den gruppe, hvor glucose og fructose fremherskende i exudatet med C. purpurea , C. grohii , C. fusiformis og C. nigricans , etc. og den gruppe, hvor arabinitol og mannitol fremherskende med C. gigantea , C. africana , etc. En mellemliggende gruppe indeholder begge former for sukker med C.paspali , C. zizaniae , etc.
Sclerotia
Den sklerotier er dannet af kompakt mycelium , der tillader svampen at overleve mellem to faser af parasitisme . Den indeholder reserve stoffer, især er den rig på ricinolsyre .

De fleste arter af slægten Claviceps angriber kun en art eller en slægt af planter med den bemærkelsesværdige undtagelse af Claviceps purpurea, som er polyfag .
